Reflection on a Summer of Change
As July draws to a close, it’s hard to believe how quickly summer has flown by! For many, this season represents time for relaxation and adventure, but for me and my family, it has instead been filled with preparations for a significant life change: our impending move. Yes, we’ve found a new home and will be moving in just a few weeks! A blend of excitement and stress has been the theme of our summer, redefining how we experienced this vibrant season.
The Emotional Rollercoaster of Moving
Moving can indeed be a grueling process, and this particular move has been drawn out. From early planning phases—sprucing up our old house for showings to house hunting—it’s been quite the journey. Each moment felt like a mix of hope and trepidation. However, now that we have a concrete moving date, excitement is finally overshadowing the stress. I can already envision unpacking boxes in our new space and creating memories that will last a lifetime.
A Peek into Our New Chapter
Though I’m keeping most details of our new home under wraps until the move is complete, I gave a sneak peek to my Substack subscribers. It’s thrilling to dip into the possibilities of settling into an unfamiliar neighborhood, exploring its charms, and redefining our everyday lives in a new setting. Summer often brings the promise of new adventures, and despite the exhaustive preparations, I can’t help but feel excited about the journey ahead.
Summer Adventures: Balancing Life and Change
Even amidst packing and preparations, we managed to squeeze in some summer fun. One highlight was a weekend trip with my church group to Fredericksburg, Texas. This quaint town, known for its wineries, provided the perfect backdrop for laughter and connection with friends, a meaningful break from the hustle of moving.
We also engaged in several family-friendly activities that made our summer memorable—like riding the train to downtown Austin, visiting local museums, and enjoying lazy days by the pool. It’s essential to find joy in these small moments, and they certainly added brightness to a busy month. We even unwrapped some movie classics with the kids, enjoying a family movie night complete with laughter and nostalgia.
July Favorites: A Celebration of Little Things
No monthly recap would feel complete without sharing some favorites! I recently added a fabulous dress during Prime Days that has quickly become a wardrobe staple. Not only is it stylish with functional pockets, but its versatility makes it a must-have for any occasion.
Additionally, I finally purchased an electric spin scrubber after years of deliberating, and I was pleasantly surprised by its efficiency! Using it to tackle our shower and grill was an eye-opener, making cleaning both easier and more enjoyable. Sometimes, investing in the right tools can truly enhance home maintenance.
Lastly, I found a bronzer that I am head over heels for! It’s affordable, easy to apply, and the perfect shade for a summer glow. Discovering little treasures like these can be a wonderful distraction from the chaos of moving.
Looking Ahead: Insights from Our Journey
As we transition into a new phase of life, I reflect on the importance of embracing change. Whether through practical DIY projects or simply taking time for family, these transformative moments shape us. Soon, we’ll be creating a new home filled with memories, unique projects, and a fresh perspective.
If you’re considering a move or simply looking to rejuvenate your home, don’t shy away from these opportunities. There are countless resources available, from cleaning tips to DIY project ideas, that can assist in the process. Embrace this summer’s end and look toward the adventures awaiting in the fall.
